Notice that the assessment Roll is open for Examination and Open Book

STATE OF WISCONSIN
Town of Underhill, Oconto County.

Pursuant to s. 70.45, Wis. Stats. The assessment roll for the Year 2020 assessment will be open for examination on the 7th day of May, 2021 at 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm.

Additionally, the assessor will be available on the 7th day of May, 2021 at the Underhill Community Center, 5597 Cardinal Road, Gillett from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

Instructional material will be provided at the open book to persons who wish to object to valuations under s. 70.47, Wis. Stats.

TOWN OF UNDERHILL DECLARES APRIL AS FAIR HOUSING MONTH

Press Release

April 11, 2021 marks the 53rd anniversary of the passage of the U.S. Fair Housing Law, Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968. This created the national policy of Fair Housing without regard to race, color, creed, national origin, sex, familial status, and handicap, and encourages fair housing opportunities for all citizens.

The Town of Underhill is committed to highlight the Fair Housing Law, Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, by continuing to address discrimination in our community, to support programs that will educate the public about the right to equal housing opportunities, and to plan partnership efforts with other organizations to help assure every American of their right to fair housing.

The Town of Underhill encourages all citizens, especially those in the business of selling, renting, or financing housing, to adhere to the standard of fair housing.

OUTSTANDING PROVISIONAL BALLOTS

APRIL 6, 2021 SPRING ELECTION

PER STATE STATUTE 7.15(15)  PROVIDE NOTICE OF OUTSTANDING PROVISIONAL BALLOTS.  As soon as possible after the closing hour for all polling places in the municipality on election night, the municipal clerk shall post at his or her office and on the Internet at a site announced by the clerk before the polls open, and shall make available to any person upon request, a statement of the number of electors who have cast provisional ballots at the election in the municipality that cannot be counted as of that closing hour because the electors have not satisfied relevant voting requirements.

Notice of Meeting of the Local and Municipal Board of Canvassers
At the close of voting on Election Day, pursuant to the provisions of Wis. Stat. § 19.84, the Election Inspectors will convene as a joint meeting of the Local Board of Canvassers and the Municipal Board of Canvassers for the purpose of conducting the local and municipal canvasses pursuant to Wis. Stat. §§7.51 and 7.53(1). This meeting will be open to the public pursuant to Wis. Stat. §§ 19.81-89.

2021 SPRING THAW RESTRICTIONS

March 5, 2021

Weight restrictions will go into effect on Town of Underhill roadways effective March 5th, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. and remain in effect until further notice.

School buses, emergency vehicles, milk/seed potato/livestock haulers, perishable food haulers, solid waste haulers collecting residential or commercial waste, and septage hauling will be EXEMPT from the road restrictions.

Fuel/gas haulers will be allowed to transport ½ of their normal legal loads. However, all carriers are encouraged to suspend operations and contact the Town of Underhill Chair at 920-855-6632 if visible road damage is encountered.

All effected roads will be posted with weight specific restrictions.

VOTING BY ABSENTEE BALLOT

March 5, 2021

Any qualified elector who is unable or unwilling to appear at the polling place on Election Day may submit a request to vote an absentee ballot to their municipal clerk.  A qualified elector is any U.S. citizen, who will be 18 years of age or older on Election Day, who has resided in the ward or municipality where he or she wishes to vote for at least 28 consecutive days before the election.  The elector must also be registered in order to receive an absentee ballot.  Proof of identification must be provided before an absentee ballot may be issued. 

You must make a request for an absentee ballot in writing or online at MyVote.wi.gov

Contact your municipal clerk and request that an application for an absentee ballot be sent to you for the election.  You may also submit a written request in the form of a letter or you may apply for an absentee ballot online at MyVote.wi.gov.  Your written request must list your voting address within the municipality where you wish to vote, the address where the absentee ballot should be sent, if different, and your signature.  You may make application to your municipal clerk for an absentee ballot in person, by mail, by fax, by email or at MyVote.wi.gov.

Making application to receive an absentee ballot by mail

The deadline for making application to receive an absentee ballot by mail is:

5 pm on the fifth day before the election, Thursday, April 1, 2021.

Note:    Special absentee voting application provisions apply to electors who are indefinitely confined to home or a care facility, in the military, hospitalized, or serving as a sequestered juror.  If this applies to you, contact the municipal clerk regarding deadlines for requesting and submitting an absentee ballot.

Voting an absentee ballot in person

You may also request and vote an absentee ballot in the clerk’s office or other specified location during the days and hours specified for casting an absentee ballot in person.

The first day to vote an absentee ballot in the clerk’s office is: Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at 3:30 p.m.

The last day to vote an absentee ballot in the clerk’s office: Friday, April 2, 2021 at 5:00 p.m.

No in-person absentee voting may occur on the day before the election.

The municipal clerk will deliver voted ballots returned on or before Election Day to the proper polling place or counting location before the polls close on April 6, 2021.  Any ballots received after the polls close will not be counted.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN to the electors of the Town of Underhill, Oconto County, Wisconsin, that a TOWN CAUCUS will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. at the Underhill Community Center, 5597 Cardinal Road, Gillett, WI to nominate candidates for the town offices of Town Chairman, Supervisor 1, Supervisor 2, Town Clerk, and Town Treasurer to appear on the ballot for the Spring Election to be held on April 6, 2021.
